Marleen Hengelaar-Rookmaaker introduces us to her father, art historian Hans Rookmaaker, who “was rooted in a tradition that saw art and all areas of life as important in themselves as good gifts of the Creator.”
Hans Rookmaaker is worth reading today because of how his work can teach us to see art truly and freshly, because he can help us to discern the connections between various art forms and worldview, because he was and is a mentor to many, because of his desire to uncover God’s hand at work in history, and because of his insatiable curiosity about life and the people who live it.
