A moment of silence to quiet our hearts and to acknowledge that Christ is among us.
V. O God, come to my assistance.
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
V. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:

Lord God and Maker of all things,
Creation is upheld by you.
While all must change and know decay,
You are unchanging, always new.
You are man’s solace and his shield,
His Rock secure on which to build.
You are the spirit’s tranquil home,
In you alone is hope fulfilled.

And Holy Spirit render praise:
Blest Trinity, from age to age

Trusting in the word of the Lord
Take pity on me, O God,
for men have trampled me down.
My attackers press me all day long.
All day my enemies trample me:
so many fight against me, O Most High!
Whenever I fear,
I shall put my hope in you –
in God, whose sayings I praise:
in God I put my trust.
I am frightened no longer:
what harm can mere flesh do to me?
All day they attacked my interests,
their thoughts were directed against me.
They picked quarrels, they lay in ambush,
they followed at my very heels.
You have kept track of my wanderings –
so collect my tears in your wineskin,
and keep count of every one!
Then my enemies will be turned back
on the very day I call on you.
Then I shall know that you are my God.
In God I hope, whose sayings I praise;
in the Lord, whose sayings I praise.
In God I put my hope.
I do not fear: what harm can mere men do to me?
The vows I have made you hang over me:
I shall fulfill them and give you praise.
You have rescued my soul from death
and my feet from stumbling.
I shall walk in the presence of God
in the light that shines on the living.
Morning prayer in time of affliction
Have mercy on me, God, have mercy.
My soul flies to you for refuge.
I will hide in the shelter of your wings
until the time of ambush is past.
I will cry to God the Most High,
to the God who cares for me.
He will send help from heaven to set me free.
He will disgrace those who trample me underfoot.
He will send forth his mercy and faithfulness.
My soul lies among lion-cubs
that would devour the children of men.
Their teeth are spears and arrows,
their tongues are pointed swords.
May you be exalted above the heavens, O God;
let your glory cover the whole earth.
They prepared a trap for my feet;
my soul was bent double under its burden;
they dug a pit in front of me
– but they fell into it themselves.
My heart is ready, God.

Awake, my glory,

Let me put it like this: if you are guided by the Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence, since self-indulgence is the opposite of the Spirit, the Spirit is totally against such a thing, and it is precisely because the two are so opposed that you do not always carry out your good intentions.
V. Lord, you are good and your ways are good.

Presence
Dear Lord, as I come to You today,
fill my heart and my whole being
with the wonder of Your presence.
Freedom
I try to let go of any prejudices and narrow-mindedness that may be clouding my vision at this present moment. I hand them over to God’s merciful care, so I can pray in freedom, truth and clarity.
Consciousness
Lord, You are present in all things and when I take time to simply sit and be with You, my mind rests and I feel Your peace.
The Word of God
Once while Jesus was standing beside the Lake of Gennesaret and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.”When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to burst. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’s knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” For he and all who were with him were astounded at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him.

Inspiration
We go to the lakeside this morning and notice the sides of Jesus and the disciples that are different from what we are used to. Christ is quite directive – he tells the apostles what to do – and they follow his counsel
even though they know he is no expert on fishing. The guidance you give is very productive, Lord. Will you also direct us into what might lead us into deeper water, but where the better catch is more likely to be found?
Conversation
We settle ourselves once again after hearing the Word of God. What would we like to take with us into our day? What do we want to remember from today’s reading or prayer time?
Conclusion
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning,
is now and ever shall be,
world without end.
