Dr Pamela MacKenzie has been in education since the 1970s having trained as a primary school teacher. She taught at Sana’a International School in the Yemen for nine years and on returning to the UK spent the next few years studying. She worked in literacy and education developing curriculum and training programmes mainly in India and Bangladesh. She set up International Network for Development, an NGO which provides support to those developing education programmes using local, often unscripted, languages. She has worked alongside organisations such and SIL/Wycliffe, UNICEF, UNESCO and Save the Children Fund as well as government and presented many papers at conferences around the world. She is currently supporting programmes in India and Tanzania.
