Practiced medical oncology at regional cancer centres in Ontario (University of Toronto – 1982-88); McMaster University – 1988-2013). Consulted at affiliated community cancer clinic while working on PhD (2004-2011). Gave invited presentations and produced publications on clinical research in cancer therapy (1978 – 2006) and in bioethical topics from Christian perspective (2007 – 2022). Published book (Covenantal Biomedical Ethics for Contemporary Medicine (2014)) on the merits of a Christian covenantal biomedical ethical framework as an alternative to principles-base ethics in 2014. In the past few years presented webinars on challenges in developing the regulation of CRISPR gene editing technology. Also in the past few years have co-led workshops on the problem of overtreatment of the elderly in US and Canadian healthcare contexts. The workshops have been, based on a book due to be published in 2026 (Cambridge University Press) entitled Overtreatment of the Frail Elderly: A Transatlantic Conversation to which I have contributed a chapter in ethical issues linked to overtreatment of new cancer agents during and after the regulatory decision-making process.
