Art, Work and Theology Project Launch

Peter Heslam is leading a project in conjunction with KLC and ArtWay to explore the relationship between art, work and theology, especially ways in which these domains can be mutually enlightening.

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new project that brings art, work and theology into conversation – three spheres that have too often remained isolated from one another. Even when art is analysed from a Christian perspective, the focus tends to be on overtly religious artworks. This project seeks to address the gap in theological analysis of art by exploring how artistic representations of work and rest can enrich Christian understanding of vocation, creativity and human flourishing.

Building on ArtWay’s long-established tradition of thoughtful engagement with both sacred and secular art, Peter aims to engage in primary research grounded in art criticism, theology and business studies, offering fresh ways of seeing how visual art can deepen our understanding of the biblical story and the lived experience of work.

We are pleased that funding has been pledged to support this endeavour, and we look forward to the fruits of this work rolling out on our platforms!
