For four years, Jenny was our Research Fellow in Communication, Media and Journalism, thanks to a grant from the JW Laing Trust. In 2025 we launched the fruit of this, Saving Journalism: The Rise, Demise and Survival of the News (Pippa Rann Books) from our base in Cambridge. A career journalist who trained with Yorkshire Post Newspapers, she went on to work in missions for nearly twenty years, and then with the mainstream media, pioneering religious literacy in journalism following the London Tube Bombings. She was the Founder Director of London-based philanthromedia charity, Lapido Media, publishing among other things, handbooks for journalists on Islam in Britain. She has a doctorate in religions from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University, and has been published many times in academic journals and the mainstream and on-line media, including the Guardian, the Times and, in translation, the European press. Her other books include Faith and Power: Christianity and Islam in ‘Secular’ Britain with Lesslie Newbigin and Lamin Sanneh (SPCK 1998, and Wipf&Stock 2005), and A Wild Constraint: The Case for Chastity (Continuum 2008), an extended essay on contemporary sexuality.
