Gerrit Glas (1974) is philosopher and psychiatrist. He is an emeritus professor of philosophy in various fields and a former director of residency training in two mental health institutions in the Netherlands. He is active in the mental health innovation network Redesigning Psychiatry and a member of the research group Patterns of Life (Parnassia Groep, The Hague).

At the Vrije Universiteit (Amsterdam) he held a chair in Philosophy of Neuroscience (Amsterdam University Medical Center; 2016-2021) and the (endowed) Dooyeweerd chair in Philosophy and Christianity at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (2008-2023). Previous to this, he had a chair in Christian Philosophy and a chair in Philosophy of Psychiatry, both at Leiden University (Leiden, NL). He is a practicing psychiatrist.

He publishes on topics at the interface between psychiatry, philosophy, neuroscience, ethics, and religion.
His most recent books are Person-centered Care in Psychiatry: Self-relational, Contextual, and Normative Perspectives (Routledge 2019) and (with Maarten Verkerk and Suzan Sierksma-Agteres) The Intellectual Legacy of Herman Dooyeweerd (1894-1977) – A Hopeful Philosophy for our Time (Amsterdam University Press, 2025.

He is editor-in-chief of Philosophia Reformata, the scientific journal of the Association for Reformational Philosophy, an interdisciplinary journal rooted in the tradition of Dutch Neo-Calvinist philosophical thinking.

In 2020 he was fellow of the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Science (NIAS-KNAW).
